WHY SHOULD I DONATE TO GARY DINEEN LEGACY?
Gary Dineen Legacy provides ongoing support for the Mass/Conn United youth hockey programs, which include the Connecticut Jr. Huskies, Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds, New England Jr. Falcons and Gary Dineen Hockey School. Click HERE to learn more about Mass/Conn United.
The mission of these programs is to provide young student-athletes with an environment conducive to their athletic, academic and social development and to promote a forum for structured, supervised activity which promotes health, well-being, team spirit and good sportsmanship.
By donating to GDL you show your support for our mission and help sustain a vibrant organization. A donation also shows your support for area youth and provides you the opportunity to "give back" to the community.
WHERE WILL MY DONATION GO?
Gary Dineen Legacy-supported Mass/Conn United youth hockey programs field over 20 teams, with over 350 players and 70 plus coaches. Our players range in age from three to six years old in our Learn to Skate/Play Program to high school-aged players on our U18 and U19 teams.
In addition to the normal business operating expenses which go with any organization, there are expenses specific to running youth hockey programs. These include:
- Ice Rental
- Equipment (jerseys, socks, pant shells, bags)
- Tournament entrance fees
- Strength and Conditioning sessions
Your donation will afford GDL the opportunity to assist the Mass/Conn United hockey programs in meeting these expenses, as well as expand our capability to maintain our leadership in the youth hockey community.

GARY DINEEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Gary Dineen Legacy understands that youth hockey requires a significant financial and time commitment from families, many of whom do not have the means to participate at the highest level of amateur hockey in New England. For those families that require additional financial assistance, Mass/Conn United offers a “needs based” scholarship in the form of the Gary Dineen Legacy-sponsored Gary Dineen Memorial Scholarship Fund. Applications are submitted to and reviewed by an independent committee. Awarded funds are applied against player participation fees up to a maximum of 50% of the season’s total tuition. Criteria considered as part of the review process includes financial need, academic record, community service and the player’s positive contributions to his/her team and the organization.
For the 2017-'18 season, the Gary Dineen Memorial Scholarship Fund provided nearly $15,000 in financial assistance to players in Mass/Conn United.
